Your Questions About Kegerator Kit

Paul asks…

Does anyone know of a good kit to turn a fridge into a kegerator?

I’ve been eyeing a few online and on ebay. I’d like to have some word of mouth input though.

I just bought a new fridge and my old one is 20cubic ft and in decent condition, so like any self-respecting man would do, I wanna turn it into a beer tap!
heh…i’ll try to do my homework before I buy anything. I appreciate the warning.

Brian answers:

I can tell you from personal experience be careful some of the kits are a pain in the a**, i tried to make an old junk fridge into a kegerator a few years ago in college, the kits are not as simple as they make them seem. Do some research and google some sites and read some customer feedack if you can, from my experience i tried two seperate kits and they both sucked and didnt work correctly, maybe i should have had a professional do the work lol.

Chris asks…

Who makes the best kegerator?

There is a kegerator conversion kit from www.KegCowboy.Com that is only $159 which includes a double guaged regulator, CO2 tank and comes already assembled ready to go right out of the box.

There is another kit that is assembled from Kegwerks.Com that is $177
that looks almost identical but with different gauges. Are there any kits cheaper with these features?

Brian answers:

I don’t know if this will be of much help but the Beer Store has this website that might be helpful http://www.draughtservices.ca/

Steven asks…

I want to get my boyfriend a kegerator for Christmas?

I don’t know anything about them though. My max price is going to be around $800.00. My boyfriend is in the army and we are stationed in Fairbanks, AK. Most of the websites I’ve found don’t ship here and of course every place boasts that they are the best. I’ve seen the conversion kits but I’m really not equipped to do something like that on my own and it’s suppose to be a surprise. Does anyone have any information or help to offer?

Brian answers:

This is the same exact one i have at home and it has worked very well and lasted for a long time i bought mine in 2001 and it still works like new today very high quality

Daniel asks…

How big of a c02 tank do I need to power a full size 15.5 gallon keg?

We are building a kegerator and I would like to know how big of a c02 tank I would need to power a full size 15.5 gallon keg without having to refill the c02 before the keg is up. Also, kegerator conversion kits are expensive. How much of it can I do myself or where can I get cheap components?

Brian answers:

Hello,

My 5 lb c02 tank lasts me about 11 kegs. The best site I have found and with the best information is www.micromatic.com They have a forum on there that will give you all the information you will ever need about building and mantaining your kegerator.
